I started learning the flute in school at aged 10. Along with playing on my own I also enjoyed participating in orchestras and wind ensembles and encourage everyone who plays an instrument to take part in group playing at every opportunity.
In the early learning stages I have a number of different lesson books that I utilise along with some of my own teaching strategies and will help pupils learn at their own rate. Everyone is different and my lessons are adapted accordingly. I prefer to teach lessons individually for this reason.
My preferred exam board is the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) of whom I am a member, and whose exams I encourage and support pupils to take and pass. I am also able to support pupils who chose to take exams using the Trinity London syllabus if this is their preference. I will also assist pupils in preparing music for school exams and performances or those who are choosing to learn specific pieces. There is never any pressure to take an exam.
